The raku technique is to remove the pot from the kiln at the
maturation temperature of the glaze (950*C) and placing it in a
container with combustible material like sawdust, newspaper, etc…
which will ignite and the closed container will produce the
reduction. The carbone trapped in the glaze and the body of the clay
and the dramatic thermal shock will cause a pattern of cracking.
