Human Nature

$759.00

Everything is in constant evolution, yet what remains still is our human nature. Despite our rapid evolution in science and technology, we, humans, have kept something in common from centuries ago. Racism, inequality, poverty, war, corruption, and violence are still a daily reality.  In this three-dimensional still life, I trace the evolution of mankind, putting the human element as the inanimate centerpiece. My artwork is in constant progression, marking the passage of time. While some parts are finally touched, others are still incomplete and some are totally left behind. Fruits are painted in pale green, dark yellow, and brown. A dead bird lies in one of the corner. And the white fabric is an empty chapter, collecting an inordinate amount of dust underneath. All elements of my composition are arranged in an orderly manner to symbolize the cyclical nature of history and the beginning and end of life (from right to left versus from left to right). This almost empty artwork leaves an open-ended question at the end. If we write history over history with superposed layers of sad realities and facts, how are moving forward as humans? Is this of our true nature?
